As of 2019, there were around 150 hospitals in Uganda. While there were only 38 hospitals providing tertiary care services, there has been a steady rise in the total number of hospitals providing secondary care services. The 38 tertiary care hospitals account to 50% of the total inpatient beds in the country and hold almost a third of the beds equipped for intensive care services. This segment of hospitals, providing tertiary care services, is expected to drive growth in the medical devices market in 2020, according to EMeRG’s new HospeTrack Hospital Intelligence for Uganda.
